I am sure you have either played or heard of Pokémon Go over the past week. This new game is catching like wildfire the world over. It has already surpassed Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and soon WhatsApp for daily users. If you have not yet played it I highly recommend that you download it for free from the Android or Apple app stores. As Forbes puts it “It’s not an exaggeration to say that the new mobile and augmented reality game from Niantic Labs and The Pokémon Company is having an enormous impact on people’s daily routines.”
But why should builders and marketers care? Well, Pokémon Go developer Niantic Labs will partner with businesses to introduce sponsored locations in-game. Builders can easily lure families and techies in to their models and in turn give them a tour of the models. Now, Niantic Labs has not officially launched their in game partnership program but be assured that Marketshare will be on it when they do and our clients will be some of the first on board. In the meantime we have another tip for communities that want to push their marketing boundaries.
Within the game there are ways to lure Pokemon to a specific location that will in turn attract people to your community. From there you can give them a model tour, or even set up a Pokemon adventure or safari. Lures last for 30 minutes and can be purchased in app. You can purchase enough lures to last all day for around $30.
